Geocache adventure and Bluetooth beacon puzzle challenge organised by Historyworks in partnership with the Cambridge Museum of Technology, The Old Pumping Station, Cheddars Lane 01223 398650, CB5 8LD Sunday 19^th March  2:00pm - 5:00pm

As part of the Science Festival Historyworks organised a puzzle trail quiz using our new Cambridge Museum of Technology leaflets and Bluetooth beacons, to help members of the public explore the museum and discover interesting facts about the history of the Victorian Pumping Station, in a new, exciting way!

We had lots of families come take part in the puzzle trail quiz and many expressed how it had enabled their children to be much more engaged in looking carefully at each room, using the puzzle trail quiz and they had fun trying to work out the puzzle at the end!

The Historyworks team were also on hand to help out anyone who was struggling with the puzzle trail quiz or to access the Bluetooth beacon technology via the Physical Web app on their smartphone.

The children enjoyed receiving a little prize for their efforts, on completion of the quiz and there were lots of smiling faces as families left the site!

Families, groups and individuals also enjoyed exploring further afield on the geocaching trail, finding the geocache on site at the Museum and then discovering ones in the surrounding area, including on Stourbridge Common, by the River Cam.  The Historyworks team were once again on hand to help those who were trying out geocaching for the first time.

Our specially produced geocaches trail, took the public on a circular route from the Museum around the local area, and could be followed on either foot or by bicycle.  Those who were struggling to find geocaches to start with, were given support and guidance to help find the first geocache on the Museum of Technology site, by being shown the different types of geocache that they would find on the route, where they might find geocaches and how to use the geocaching app and clues to find each geocache's location. 

One geocache on the route was even hidden up a tree and involved some enthusiastic climbing to retrive it! Lots of members of the public expressed how much fun they'd had geocaching, both those who had done it many times and those who were doing it for the first time.
