“Singing Mill Road History” & Romsey R Unveiling Celebration Concert

Saturday 1st December at the Mill Road Winter Fair

 You are invited for a FREE participatory singalong rehearsal warm-up followed by a heartwarming concert where we showcase new and old pieces which are all be about the coming of the railways in 1845 with all the words inspired by the unique history of our Mill Road, with lyrics by the famous poet, Michael Rosen and also silly songs by the CBBC’s Horrible Histories songwriters!

FREE REHEARSAL AND CONCERT AND SINGING PROCESSION

Come and join the Historyworks team including Helen Weinstein, Mario Satchwell, Bethany Kirby and Tizzy Faller for a singing and movement rehearsal where our primary singers and the railway singers have a fantastic repertoire to share.  You don’t need to consider yourself a singer to participate.

11am to 11.45am Family-friendly Concert with Participation
11.45am Singing Procession to Cavendish Road to the Romsey ‘R’
12 Noon to 12.15am Sculpture Unveiling of the Romsey ‘R’ Sculpture by Artists, Harry Gray and Will Hill on corner of Mill Road and Cavendish Road with songs from the Railway Singer choirs and audience
12.30 Mill Road Winter Fair Parade starts from Salisbury Centre on Mill Road

Our Railway Singers are invited to wear fancy dress and participate in the Parade with 2018 theme of ‘Time Travelling’ and we have illustrations to inspire you to dress up as a Victorian worker including a Romsey Railway Worker!

We also have a prototype for making a Time Traveller’s sonic screwdriver, which we suggest our Railway Singers make as a shaker, with a plastic bottle filled with dried pasta or beans or lentils, so that we can add some rhythm to rhymes!
