HISTORYWORKS PUBLISHES TRAIL LEAFLETS
Historyworks has worked with a diverse group of University researchers in several academic disciplines to help them translate their research skills and show how best to tell the story of how lives were lived in York in previous centuries. Archives have been mined and archaeologists consulted. Our photographer has worked under direction to produce excellent photographs to enable the public to recognize the locations and to encourage the public to seek out the objects in museum collections that are highlighted in the trail illustrations. A key purpose of the trail has been to drive audiences to visit museums, especially those who may be into apps but think that a museum is not for them. The team at Historyworks has found it very rewarding to coach the researchers in how to collaborate with a design team at Sumo, and keep the route of the trail apps doable within 90 minutes walking and listening to the audio. Meantime, the marketing team at the York Museums Trust have supported the project by adapting our mock-ups to provide a clear trail guide and map. It is very satisfying for everyone involved to see the published leaflets, now available from Visit York, The Castle Museum, The Yorkshire Museum &c.
